Every Drop Counts During the California Drought

When Scotts® offered to send me a sample of their EveryDrop™ water maximizer, it couldn’t have come at a better time.

You see, I’m at my wits end with our lawn. I absolutely love the look and feel of fresh grass and the new trend of switching to turf is incredibly expensive and looks…artificial. As you can see from the photo below, our once lush backyard is now a bit… crunchy (now that’s an understatement!)

With California Governor Jerry Brown mandating a 25% reduction in water use, we’ve been forced to reduce our family’s lawn watering to only two days per week. The beauty of Scotts® EveryDrop™ is that it uses a unique formula that makes the most of available water and helps move more water into the soil. When added to lawns and gardens, EveryDrop™ helps water absorb into the soil, allowing it to reach the roots and hydrate your lawn and plants. Scotts® says that consumers who use EveryDrop™ can expect to use up to 25 percent less water on their lawns – a perfect match for the 25% California drought water use reduction.

So how can you help conserve water? A few California drought friendly tips:

Around the House
• Take shorter showers whenever possible
• Place a bucket in your shower to catch extra water and use it to water your plants
• Have extra water in your workout bottles? Instead of dumping it out, put it in your pet’s water bowls or use it to water plants
• Only run your dishwasher and washing machines in the mornings and when you have full loads

In the Yard
• Limit your watering to 2x per week and use Scotts® EveryDrop™ to maximize the water absorption.
• Adjust sprinklers to ensure they are not spraying on sidewalks and fix any leaks
• Water in the morning when water absorbs best
