1)  Incorporate exercise into your day- Exercise burns calories, reduces stress and helps you feel great! Fit it in whenever and however it works best for you – morning or evening, walking, running or group fitness classes. You can even do exercises right at home with things you have around the house. Make it a family affair and go for a holiday light walk.

2)  Fill your fridge with delicious & nutritious snacks - As people bring chocolate and cookies by the dozens, having some healthier alternatives ready to go will allow you to munch without the guilt. Try cut up fruit, veggies and dip, hummus & pretzels or light popcorn.

3)  Moderation not deprivation - Be sure to enjoy the holidays by indulging a bit but try not to over-do it. Enjoy one cookie instead of five, take a small amount of each item you enjoy on the buffet, eat only half of the piece of pie.

4)  Set alcohol limits in advance and make lower calorie choices - When enjoying some holiday cheer, select drinks with lower calories such as a glass of wine, a light beer or a cocktail made with lower calorie mixers. Avoid tropical drinks and anything that looks like a dessert!

5)  Keep a to-do list to manage your time and help prioritize - Checking items off your list will feel great and help you feel accomplished and in control.

6)  Pause and enjoy the more quiet moments of the season - We get so caught up in the stress and activity of the season that we often forget to enjoy ourselves and remember that this is the ideal time of year to enjoy each other’s company, be thankful for our blessings and enjoy the true meaning of the season.
