Create Your Own Back-to-School Style on a Budget

Let’s face it…going back to school is expensive! Kids want to show off their own style but mom needs to keep her budget in check. Here are some simple tricks that will allow your kids to add their own flair this school year without breaking the bank.

1. A Flair for Fashion – Kids always want the latest clothing and accessories but prices can be out of control. Allow them to pick their must-have clothing items and then have them personalize some less expensive accessories with fabric markers, rhinestones and more to create their own signature look.

2. Stylized School Supplies – Instead of spending more on pre-designed school supplies, opt for plain, less expensive folders, notebooks, book covers and school supply containers and allow the kids to create their own masterpieces with magazine montages, glitter, stickers and more.

3. Avoid the Lunch Lull – Kids lose water bottles and lunch boxes left and right. Instead of investing in expensive versions that are bound to disappear anyway, opt for non-licensed, less expensive versions that can be decorated with stickers, photos and glitter glue.

4. Room Decor & More – Jazz up their rooms and school lockers with cute and cash-friendly items such as homemade picture frames and bulletin boards that showcase their style. These easy ideas make them feel like one-of-a kind!
